TRAVEL | Leonardo's Bar & Grill, Antipolo (Philippines)

A drive away from the hustle and bustle of the city once in a while certainly helps one to get back his sanity. This week, we visited a rustic restaurant atop a hill overlooking the busy city of Manila.

MOVIE REVIEW | The Revenant (2015)

Just finished watching "The Revenant" and was analyzing Leonardo's chance of getting the overdue Oscars... I have some hesitation, but overall I think LD has a fighting chance this year. What with eating raw meat and swimming in ice cold waters.... amazing performance.

In the midst of the gruesomeness, I couldn't help think what Director Innaritu had in mind making LD look like that... well, judging from previous films such as "Amores Perros", I really shouldn't be surprised at how Innaritu made the scenes as close to reality.

PS. I forgot to add that watching ‪#‎TheRevenant‬ makes you feel like watching Pocahontas version 2016... just waiting for Pocahontas and Capt Smith to sing ".. have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon..."

MOVIE REVIEW | Stonewall (2015)

I liked the film, although medyo loose ang narrative. It was like trying to force the audience to like it... too many themes mashed up in two hours.

Please watch ‪#‎PriscillaOfTheDesert‬ & ‪#‎BrokeBackMountain‬
Parang nag fuse yung 2 movies na to sa ‪#‎Stonewall‬....
It could have been a better film kung nag focus yung story sa isang central theme...

MOVIE REVIEW | The Danish Girl (2015)

Just finished watching "The Danish Girl".. and boy, my heart was in my mouth for the whole 2 hours.

The movie reminded me about a discussion with a very good friend and mentor, about how transgender people see their bodies differently from the rest. While we see ourselves as what we are, trans people look at themselves as physically anomalous (sexual switched). And thereby wanting to undergo severe operations (in the case of Lily, was fatal).

DANCE | Salsa Night at Aracama & Meeting Jojo Alfonso

As a salsa dancer, I always find myself meeting such amazing and talented people. Last night at Aracama in BGC, I met again Jojo Alfonso, a certified Salsa aficionado based in Bangkok Thailand.

He is teaching salsa, bachata and kizomba. I've seen his moves and boy, the guy can dance. I'm pretty sure that he has made a name for himself in Thailand. Look him up on YouTube and you'll see loads of his sleek moves.

EVENT | MC Batch 2003 - Donate for Sewing Machine

Let me introduce a recent cause that Expat In The City has been supporting.

Sometime in the middle of December 2015, as if led by fate- a donation drive has been started to benefit the less privileged community in Lucena City. And by less privileged, we mean extreme poverty that incapacitates the human soul and question how it is possible to survive in such deplorable conditions.
